How to Find Investors

Knowing how to find investors is not the easiest task. It involves coming up with great ideas and creating a full proof business plan. It also involves finding people who actually have the spare capital to invest. Following these steps can help you find solid investors for your new business ideas.

Step One

The most important part of finding investors is to have that next great idea which is going to make a lot of profit. Even if your idea is not a traditional business, it must be a great idea that people will relate to and be interested in buying. If you are serious, and you want to find serious investors, you must possess a solid idea for a business that has the potential to make tons of profits.

Step Two

Creating a full-proof business model for your investment opportunity is a key step in attracting investors who will want to help you fund your endeavors.

Step Three

Patent or trademark your idea if it is a specific product you will be manufacturing and selling so that no one else will be able to compete with you by producing and selling a similar product. Investors will not be quick to invest in an idea that other businesses could potentially imitate or steal. You must have a full-proof business plan for investors to take you seriously. Your business needs to be able to compete in the real world for investors to trust loaning their money to fund your endeavor.

Step Four

You must present your desire to find investors as an opportunity for them to make money. You will not be as successful if you just ask for investors to loan you money. You must spin the plan in a way that will show them how the opportunity can be profitable for them. Investors will want to see the plan laid out in clear terms of how their money will be used to generate revenue and create profit. You must also clearly show the investors how and when you will be able to repay their money. Creating a time line with the expected dates for repayment will sit well with potential investors. All investors want to know when they will receive their money back and with what percentage gain. Also, you will want to include incentives for them to invest, such as extra payments for higher levels of profits as your company grows.

Step Four

Once you have laid out a clear plan about your new business and how investment money could be used to generate profits, you must begin to market your ideas to potential investors and investment firms. If you do not directly know individual investors, you will need to begin taking your ideas to larger, more commercial firms such as banks and finance companies. Banks and credit companies can loan money just as individual investors will loan money. Any source that will loan money for potential business activities is considered an investor.

Step Five

Begin to call firms and banks to explain your plan and your need to find investors. You can also begin to speak to coworkers, friends, family, and neighbors about the investment idea. Remember, anyone can potentially invest in your business as long as you can convince them it will make them more money. Once you have a clear plan, you must begin to spread your ideas and hope that people are interested in helping you. If you have a great idea that will surely generate profits, you will have no problem finding investors.
