How to find a Person's Address
Finding a person's address can be a very difficult task if you do not know a lot of information about the person. Even if you do know the person's name and occupation, it may still be quite hard to find information about the person's address. Because there is no sure way to find a person's address, here is a list of simple steps one can use to find another person's address.
Step One
The first piece of information that is needed to find the person's address is their last name. The first step in finding a person's address is to know their first and last name. You must know a person's real last name in order to find out their address. You must also know what state or city in which a person resides.
Step Two
The easiest way to find a persons address is to look it up in the telephone directory. The phone book lists the phone numbers and addresses of all residents residing inside of an area or city. Most phone books are regional and will only list residents who live within the territory, so if you do not have a general idea of where the person resides, your search will be tedious and time consuming because you will have to look through many different phone directories.
This solution does not always work because many people, who do not wish to be located, ask the phone company to take them out of the directory. Also, other people who do not pay for phone service will not be listed in the phone book. Looking in the phone book is the easiest way to find the person's address but it is not always a successful way to find the person's address.
Step Three
If you cannot find a person's address using the phone book, the next step would be to contact a post office for the general area in which you believe the person is living. When people move from one address to another, it is common practice to change the information with the post office so that mail will be forwarded to the new address. The USPS keeps a database that contains over twenty five million people’s change of address information. The post office is usually willing to help people find another person's address if it is in the system, but if it is not in the system, there is nothing more they can do to help you find the person's address.
Step Four
If the past few steps have not helped, it is time to begin searching the internet for information regarding the person. The internet is full of information, and now days many phone directories are listed online. There are also many websites that help find long-lost friends and relatives. These sites will help you find information about anyone as long as you are willing to pay them. Usually paying one of these sites for the person's most recent credit information will help you find out their address.
Step Five
If you can still not find a person's address, your best bet is to hire a private investigator to help you find out where the person is residing. Professional investigators will know the best ways to track down personal information, and they should have access to the latest personal-information software that most people cannot access. Hiring a private investigator is a full-proof way to find a person's address.
