How to Find Out Someone's Email

In today's society, email is becoming what the telephone used to be. It is a vital communication link between people who want to get to know each other better, become friends, or do business together. For this reason, it is embarrassing, awkward, and frustrating if you lose someone's email address once they have given it to you. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to find out someone's email address online.

First, try to find the email address using free methods. Sometimes you can find an address by typing "Person's name email address" into Google. For example, "John Smith email address". This method is not foolproof, however, because more than one person can have the same first and last name, and often Google gives you results that are not entirely relevant.

If Google does not help you, the next step is to try a free people finder service such as Yahoo People Finder. Type in the person's first and last name into this search engine. This should give you a list of email addresses. Often, you will be given more information such as the person's physical address to help you narrow down your search.

Sometimes Yahoo will not provide you with an email address. In this case, it will give you a list of web sites that mention the person's name. Check out some of these web sites to help you find the correct email address. If the person has a Facebook page, you might be able to add him as a Facebook friend and communicate that way. You also might be able to get the person's email address from her Facebook or Myspace page. Finally, you should check out any personal or business web pages listed in Yahoo's people search to see if they contain the person's email address.

If all else fails, you may have to use a pay site. Yahoo offers this option once you have searched for free, and there are several other sites out there. Use this option only as a last resort, as many pay sites charge up to $20 for a report, and you will probably receive much more information than you need, such as the person's home address and address history. These reports are really only worthwhile if you are trying to find out more information about a person you do not know, such as their criminal record or whether or not they have been sued.

Whatever method you use to find out someone's email address, make sure that you are only using it for legitimate purposes. You should never try to find out someone's address if they have not given it to you once or do not want you to have it.
